Gaia at Peterborough Cathedral

The Earth is coming to visit Peterborough Cathedral this summer.

Did you make it to Peterborough Cathedral to see the moon last year?

We did and it was stunning. Everyone enjoyed it from adults to 3 month old babies. It was truly stunning and not so busy that you couldn’t get up close. Well now is your chance to see the Earth!! I’m really excited about this exhibition 🌍 and so should your budding astronauts be! If you stand 211m away you will see the Earth as if you were standing on the moon! Get closer and you will see the detailed images taken by NASA that have been pieced together to make up the Earth’s surface as viewed from space. It is a mind blowing 1.8 million times smaller than real life and rotates once every four minutes. This will really give your little ones some idea of our place on this Earth and how big the world and it’s possibilities are. The cathedral is open every day and admission during the day is FREE! There is a box for donations which are invited.

If you have older children or are interested in going in the evening you can book a ticket to view it lit up at dusk while listening to BAFTA winner composer Dan Jones’ specially written composition in surround sound. The various evening events are ticketed and require booking in advance at £2 per person or £6 per family. This event runs from Monday 19th August until Sunday 15th September.
